CMA CGM Libra Aground

The 131,000 dwt boxship CMA CGM Libra went aground at the port of Xiamen, China.   The 363 meter long vessel grounding was severe  resulting with more than 10 degree list at high tide.    The company has started salvage plans.  No injuries or pollution has been released.

Update: May 27th, the CMA CGM Libra was successfully refloated.  Initial reports state the vessel did not suffer any hull damage and is proceeding to Hong Kong.

The 27,000 dwt freighter Chang Da 218  was reported aground at Shantou, China.  Attempts to refloat the vessel were not successful.  No further details reported.

The cargo vessel Min Ningde Cargo 0202 capsized and sank off the Ningde City, Fujian Province, China.   The vessel sent out a distress call that the vessel was sinking.   Two of the 6 crewmen aboard were rescued.   A search for the missing 4 crewmen is being conducted by the maritime safety administration.
