Hanjin Semarang

The 145 meter long, 12550 dwt boxship Hanjin Semarang went aground on a shoal near the entrance to the port of Chittagong, Bangledesh.  The boxship was able to be refloated on the next high tide.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.  The Hanjin Semarang was headed to Chittagong from Port Klang with 800 containers on board.

Hyang Ro Bong Collision

Hyang Ro Bong Collision

 

The 14,806 dwt freighter Hyang Ro Bong collided with the 11,690 dwt freighter Banga Lanka in the outer anchorage of Chittagong, Bangladesh.   The Hyang Ro Bong’s hull developed a crack, tilted over and sank by the stern.  The 31 crew of the Hyang Ro Bong were safely transferred to another vessel.   The Hyang Ro Bong was loaded with 13,000 tons of rice from Pakistan.  Authorities have formed a probe to investigate the incident.
