The 188 meter long cargo vessel Luminous Ace went aground on the Columbia River near mile marker 40.   The vessel went aground after an electrical outage cause the vessel to lose steering.   The crew dropped anchor to avoid the vessel to drift further.   The Coast Guard responded sending a helicopter to do an aerial inspection finding no signs of pollution being released.  While anchored, the crew was able to regain power back on the Luminous Ace.   Tugs will assist in releasing the vessel at the next high tide.   No reports of injuries or damage.

Jacks Or Better, Folds Hand

The motor ship Jacks Or Better became disabled off Mayport, Florida.   The chatter casino vessel was proceeding back to Mayport with 60 passengers on board when it lost propulsion.  The crew contacted the Coast Guard who responded sending the 45-foot rescue boat to its aid.  A commercial tug also responded, but was not needed.   The Jacks Or Better was able make repairs and proceeded safely to port a few hours later.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Ruby Lily Aground

The 50 foot fishing vessel Ruby Lily ran ashore on Petos Island, San Juan Islands, Washington.   The Coast Guard directed a cutter to the scene which found the vessel aground.   The master of the Ruby Lily was uninjured and decided to remain on the vessel.   A salvage company was contacted to assist refloating the Ruby Lily.   No water pollution reported.
