The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker Istoromi collided with the 86 meter long self-propelled tanker Alto Mira on the Outer Maas near Poortugaal, Netherlands. Two vessels were passing during the early morning hours when the Alto Mira suffered a steering fault. Unable to avoid collision the master of the Alto Mira kept the tanker on a path where both vessels collided  head-on.

Both vessels sustained bow damage above the waterline vessels. The damage was limited to the bow area and no water ingress. The vessels were still able proceed  under their own power.  The tankers then proceeded to Geul. There the vessels unloaded their cargo. The Istoronmi discharged acetone while the Alto Mira unloaded ethanol.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Sinotrans Xiamen

The 39 meter long fishing vessel Min Shu Yu 07878 sank after collision in the Taiwan Strait near Xiamen, China. The Min Shu Yu 07878 had been struck by the 145 meter long, 12550 dwt container ship Sinotrans Xiamen which was en route to Quanzhou from Shantou. The Min Shu Yu 07878 quickly sank. Reports state only three of the 11 crew on board were rescued. The 11 crew were still reported as missing as authorities proceeded with a search and rescue operation. After the collision, authorities directed the Sinotrans Xiamen to berth at Xiamen as part of an investigation into the incident.

On December 14, the lighter MV Labs 1 sank near the outer anchorage of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The MV Labs 1 was carrying a cargo of 1050 tons of cement clinker when it was struck by another vessel.  The lighter suffered water ingress and began to sink. The crew alerted the coast guard who dispatched a rescue ship to the scene. All 13 crew of the MV Labs 1 were safely rescued. No reports of injuries.
