The 152 meter long, 10600 dwt container ship Heinrich Schepers ran aground on the Kiel Canal near the bridge at Grünental, Germany. While en route to Kotka from Hamburg, the boxship suffered engine damage.  The crew attempted an emergency anchorage, but the vessel ran up on the northern embankment and became stuck. No reports of injuries. Traffic on the Kiel Canal around the Heinrich Schepers was halted as the boxship blocked the fairway.

The 185 meter long, 21000 dwt container ship Kea Trader ran aground on a reef near the island of Maré in the Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia. The Kea Trader was headed to Noumea from Papeete when it struck the Durand reefs some 50 miles southeast of Maré. The boxship was firmly on the reef and the situation was reported as stable. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The crew remain on board the Kea Trader while the shipowner makes arrangements for mitigating pollution and possible salvage. Authorities have dispatched an intervention team to assess the situation.

The 207 meter long, 34183 dwt container ship APL Jeddah allided with a quay at Hong Kong, China. The APL Jeddah had arrived at Kaohsiung Port 58 and was being assisted to the pier by a pilot when it suffered a power loss. The APL Jeddah’s bow struck the pier resulting in damage to the pier and boxship.

The bulbous bow sustained a significant dent while the pier had a section destroyed. No reports of injuries and no pollution was reported.
