On November 16, the 132 meter long, 9556 dwt container ship Nuka Arctica caught fire near Aalborg, Denmark. The Nuka Arctica was headed to Nuuk, Greenland when a fire started in the engine room.  The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by the crew, but the Nuka Arctica sustained damaged. The boxship redirected to Frederikshavn for repairs. Reports state the Nuka Arctica is proceeding under its own power, but at a reduced speed. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 145 meter long container ship Chang Rong 8 ran aground in the Taiwan Strait off Dongjia Island, Fuzhou, China. The Chang Rong 8 was headed to Haikou from Rizhao when it suffered engine failure. The boxship drifted onto shallow waters and ran up on the rocks. The Chang Rong 8 sustained hull damage with multiple breaches in the engine room. The crew tried in vain to control the water ingress, but the compartment flooded. Local authorities were alerted and dispatched a rescue ship to the scene. Seven of the 16 crew were evacuated while the remaining crew stayed on board to assist in salvage efforts. No reports of injuries.  Authorities later reported of some oily water released around the vessel.

The 241 meter long, 44,585 dwt container ship Gang Tai Tai Zhou ran ashore on the southern end of Kinmen Island, Taiwan. The Gang Tai Tai Zhou had been at anchor attempting to ride out typhoon Meranti, but the strong winds and heavy seas caused the anchor to drag. Unable to stop the drifting, the boxship was blown hard aground onto the rocks off Kinmen Island. The Gang Tai Tai Zhou sustained severe hull damage with multiple breaches below the waterline including several fuel tanks. No reports of injuries. Authorities placed boom around the container ship, but some heavy fuel oil had already washed ashore.
