The 116 meter long container ship Yusuf Cepnioglu went aground on the island of Mykonos, Greece.   The boxship was bound for Tunisia when grounded onto a rocky area north of the island near the Lighthouse Armenisti.  The bow of the vessel was out of the water while the stern submerged.  The engine room and cargo holds flooded and several of the 204 containers on board fell overboard.  Some oil pollution was spotted suggesting that one of the fuel tanks may have been ruptured.

As the situation worsen, the crew requested assistance and abandoned ship.  The Greek Coast Guard responding.  The lifeboat from Syros was dispatched to the scene.  The lifeboat picked up 11 of the 14 crew on board.  The master and another crewman elected to stay on board to manage salvage operations.  The 11 crewmen were transferred to Mykonos.   As conditions worsen with increasing waves and wind, the two men left on board where also evacuated.  An US Navy helicopter airlifted the men to safety.  The lifeboat and a tug remained on scene to monitor for any additional pollution being released.  Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

MARE_THRACIUM

The 124 meter long, 12124 dwt tanker Zoey collided with the 195 meter long, 34705 dwt container ship Hammonia Thracium in the Singapore Strait off Sebarok Island, Singapore.  The Zoey struck into the Hammonia Thracium puncturing her hull and damaging one of her bunker tanks.  No reports of injuries.  Some 80 metric tons of fuel oil was released into the water.  Authorities have dispatched teams to support clean-up efforts.   An investigation into the cause of the collision has been launched.  Reports state the Hammonia Thracium was crossing the traffic lanes prior to the incident.

NYK_THEMIS

The 304 meter long, 80227 dwt container ship TYK Themis collided during the night with the barge AZ Fuzhou being towed by the 494 gt tug AZ Carnation off East Keepel Fairway, Singapore.  The NYK Themis suffered hull damage resulting in one of her fuel tanks leaking bunker fuel.   No reports of  injuries.   No details to what damage if any was sustained on the barge and tug.  All vessels were able to safely anchor and were in no risk of sinking.  The Port Authorities have sent out response team to help clean up the oil pollution.  The cause of the collision is under investigation.
