On September 8, the 171 meter long, 34,656 dwt tanker Anwaar Afriqya (IMO: 9275268) became disabled on the Dardanelles off Kepez, Turkey. The Anwaar Afriqya was enroute to Tuzia from Tripoli when it suffered engine failure and power blackout. Authorities dispatched the tug Kurtarma 4 which took the tanker under tow. The vessels proceeded to the anchorage off Çanakkale. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On September 1, the 81 meter long, 3346 dwt cargo vessel FG Sefa became in the Dardanelles near Çanakkale, Turkey. Authorities reported the vessel had suffered an engine breakdown while en route from Lebanon to Georgia. Local authorities were alerted and responded to the scene. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 74 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Aydın Kaptan 2 ran aground in the Dardanelles off Çardak, Turkey. The Aydın Kaptan 2 had left the dock with 30 passengers and 10 vehicles bound for Gallipoli. The ferry only traveled some 10 meters from the pier when it stranded on a sandbar. Local authorities dispatched a lifeboat to the scene and found the ferry undamaged. Four passengers were evacuated and taken back to port. The rest of the passengers remained on board until the Aydın Kaptan 2.  The tug, Arab Kamil, pulled the Aydın Kaptan 2 off the sandbar several hours later. Both vessels proceeded back to Çardak.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
