Lona

Lona

The 84 meter long, 2958 dwt freighter Lona went aground near Risholmen, Denmark.  The Lona was approaching the dock in high winds when it was blown off course.  A tug was requested and refloated the freighter which was taken to a nearby quay.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   Authorities have launched an investigation to the incident.   The Lona was en route to Gothenburg from Copenhagen.

Actinia RI 220

The 17 meter long, 53 gt fishing vessel Actinia RI 220 sank near Blåvandshuk, Denmark.  The 30 year old fishing vessel had sprung a leak while fishing.   The vessel’s engine room quickly flooded leaving the Actinia without power for the pumps.  As the vessel flooded, the two crewmen contacted the fishing vessel Merano who was fishing with the Actinia.   The Merano took the Actinia under tow attempting to reach shore, but the Actinia developed a list.  Before the vessel capsized, the two crew abandon ship into a liferaft.  The two men were quickly rescued by the Merano.   No reports of injuries.   No further details reported.

Skuld

The 33 meter long tug Skuld collided with a rig in the port of Esbjerg, Denmark.   The Skuld was towing the drilling rig along side two other tugs when tug suffered engine failure.   The Skuld continued forward until it struck the rig.   The Skuld suffered severe water ingress as the hull was holed below the waterline.   The other two tugs came to the aid of the Skuld and towed it back to port.   The Skuld was berthed at a quay where the local fire brigade had pumps waiting.  No reports of injuries.   Authorities have placed booms around the Skuld as some diesel fuel pollution was released in the port.
