On July 31, the 101 meter long cargo vessel BBC Canada became disabled in the Gulf of Aden. The BBC Canada had suffered engine failure while en route to Turkey from Mumbai and went adrift. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
On July 27, the 56 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Tustna became disabled while passing between Tidsdal and Linge. The Tustna had a fault in the cooling water system causing the engine failure. The ferry went adrift in the fjord and the crew requested assistance. Another ferry, the Aukra, came to the Tustna assistance. The Aukra towed the Tustna to Eidsdal where it berthed. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
On July 24, the 190 meter long self-propelled barge Straubing became disabled on the Danube near Mühlham, Germany. The Straubing, loaded with rape, was passing a dredger when it’s propeller became entangled in the steel cable from the dredger. Divers were requested to remove the cable. The Straubing was taken to Deggendorf for further repairs. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
