Eleon

Eleon

The fishing vessel Eleon ran aground in Prince William Sound off Evans Island. The Eleon had suffered steering failure and grounded near offshore. The Coast Guard received a partial distress call and launched a Jayhawk to search for the vessel.  After the Eleon was located, the 45 foot response boat arrived on scene and towed the fishing boat from the shore.  The Eleon was towed back to port. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 26 meter long fishing vessel Albacore became disabled off Bulandet, Norway. The Albacore had lost steering when its propeller had become fouled. The crew alerted  authorities who dispatched a lifeboat to the scene.  The Albacore was taken under tow and proceeded to Herland.  There divers were were able to clear the main propeller. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 46 foot long fishing vessel Hornet became disabled off the entrance to the Columbia River, Washington.  The Hornet had lost power and was taking on water in 4 meter seas and 25 mph winds.  The crew sent out a mayday with two USCG lifeboats from Cape Disappointment, a Jayhawk helicopter from Astoria and a nearby fishing vessel responding to the scene.  The rescue vessels arrived within half an hour.  The 47 foot lifeboat took the Hornet under tow while assisting the crew with a dewatering pump.  The vessels proceeded to Ilwaco, Washington.  Two crew of the Hornet sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical attention.  No reports of pollution released.  The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
