On July 31, the 21 meter long fishing vessel Second Chance ran aground in the Gulf of Mexico off Port Aransas, Texas.  The shrimp boat had suffered engine problems and became disabled. The Second Chance went adrift and eventually went ashore on the beach.  The United States Coast Guard dispatched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to the scene. The helicopter was able to pull off all three crew on board the Second Chance along with the two dogs onboard. No reports of injuries.

Authorities dispatched a response team to monitor the shrimp boat. They report there was no signs of any pollution released. Authorities have requested the vessel owner to salvage the vessel as soon as possible.

On July 25, the 105 meter long, 5419 dwt container ship Brothers Way (IMO: 8411621) became disabled while crossing the Bosporus off Anadolu Kavağı, Turkey.  The Brothers Way was en route to Tripoli from Novorossyisk when it suffered engine failure and power black out.  Authorities dispatched the tug Kurtarma to the scene. The tug took the Brothers Way under tow to an anchorage off Büyükdere.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On July 17, the 88 meter long, 4670 dwt cargo vessel Sofular 1 (IMO: 9540601) became disabled while passing through the Bosporus. The Sofular 1 was headed to Varna from Yalova when it suffered engine failure and power blackout. Authorities dispatched the tug Kurtarma 11 to assist the Sofular 1. The tug took the vessel under tow to an anchorage off Türkeli where the crew can do repairs. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
