On July 8, the 4700 dwt cargo vessel Hengfeng 907 went adrift on the Jinsha River near near Yibin, China. The Hengfeng 907, loaded with 3200 tons of phosphate, had been moored at a dock when heavy rains cause the river levels to rise some 7 meters. The Hengfeng 907 had its mooring lines snap and the cargo vessel drifted down the river. Authorities were alerted and dispatched vessels to her aid. After several hours, rescuers were able to help secure an anchor and prevented the Hengfeng 907 from a possible capsizing. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 20 meter long fishing vessel Biscayen L353 became disabled off Thyborøn, Jutland, Denmark. The Biscayen had suffered engine failure and requested assistance. The SAR lifeboat responded and towed to the fishing vessel back to port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 205 meter long, 5656 dwt cruise passenger ship Black Watch caught fire while en route to Funchal, Madeira. The fire started in the vessel’s auxillary engine room and was quickly extinguished by the crew. No reports of injuries to passengers or the crew. The crew were able to restore power after a few hours with two of the four main engines operational. The Black Watch was reported to continue its voyage to Funchal where passengers will disembark and fly home to the United Kingdom.
