The 205 meter long, 5656 dwt cruise passenger ship Black Watch caught fire while en route to Funchal, Madeira. The fire started in the vessel’s auxillary engine room and was quickly extinguished by the crew. No reports of injuries to passengers or the crew. The crew were able to restore power after a few hours with two of the four main engines operational. The Black Watch was reported to continue its voyage to Funchal where passengers will disembark and fly home to the United Kingdom.

On June 24, the 192 meter, 47257 dwt bulk carrier Weser Stahl became disabled on the Weser off Blexen, Germany. The Weser Stahl was proceeding up to Bremen when it suffered engine failure and went adrift. The disabled Weser Stahl was pulled by the river current when it struck the Blexen ferry pier. The Weser Stahl sustained only slight damage, but the pier was severely damaged. Reports state the bulk carrier was taken under tow over to a quay in Bremerhaven. Ferry service was suspended at Blexen. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On June 20, the 42 meter long fishing vessel Eivind became disabled near Thorshavn, Faroe Islands. The trawler had suffered engine failure and went adrift. Authorities dispatched vessels to the scene which were able to attach a towline to the disabled Eivind. The vessels then proceeded into Thorshavn where the Eivind docked for repairs. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
