The 29 meter long passenger ferry Nordfolda became disabled off Bliksvær, Norway. The Nordfolda had departed from Sandhornøy headed to Bodø heading into strong winds and heavy weather. Due to rough conditions, the master of the Nordfolda asked passengers to remain seated.  Ten minutes later, there was a loud bang on the ferry. The ferry suffered a power black out as the main engine failed and water began to flow down  from the upper deck.  Two windows had been blown out allowing water ingress.  The vessel sent out a distress call and asked the passengers on board were told to put on survival suits.  Several vessels including a NSSR lifeboat responded to the ferry’s mayday and arrived on scene within the hour.  The lifeboat took the Nordfolda under towed to Bodø.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The ferry was later taken under tow to Burøya.

The 87 meter long cargo vessel Blue Note became disabled off Andros Island, Greece. The Blue Note had suffered engine failure while in bad weather heading towards Haifa.  Without power, the Blue Note began to drift towards the shore.  The crew dropped anchor and kept the vessel from going ashore.  The following day, the crew restored power.  The vessel was reported to be heading towards Almyros. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On October 23, the 21 meter long fishing vessel Segredos Do Mar sank off Sesimbra near Lisbon, Portugal. The Segredos Do Mar had  become disabled when it suffered a mechanical breakdown which resulted in the fishing vessel to run aground on the rocks just off the shoreline. The crew contacted authorities who dispatched rescue vessels and aircraft to the scene. The 14 crew on board were safely rescued. No reports of injuries. Reports state the Segredos Do Mar later sank.
