Welle

The 119 meter long, 3848 dwt general cargo vessel Welle ran aground on the Azov-Don Canal in the Don River delta. The Welle was en route from Rostov-on-Don to Icdas, Turkey with 2900 tons of scrap when it suffered failure in its steering gear.  The Welle was later refloated later the same day being assisted by a tug.  The Welle was towed to a nearby anchorage where the crew was to repair the steering. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Geroy Rossii Pyatnitskih

The 140 meter long tanker Geroy Rossii Pyatnitskih ran aground on the Don River near the 3027 kilometer mark. The Geroy Rossii Pyatnitskih was en route to Azov from Astrakhan with 4500 tons of gasoline when it grounded. A tug was dispatched and was able to refloat the tanker a few hours later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 141 meter long, 6619 dwt tanker Sig ran aground on the Don River in the Konstantinovsky District,  Russia.  The Sig had run onto a shoal while en route to Astrakhan from Baku.  No reports of injuries to the 12 crew, damage or pollution released. Three tugs were dispatched from Volgodonsk to help refloat the Sig. No further details reported.
