On June 7, reports state the dredge Ibis has released pollution into the waters off Ullal,  India.  The dredge has been slowly sinking by the stern when a fuel tank was punctured by a large rock.  There is a strong odor of diesel fuel in the air. Locals report other debris has  also begun washing onto the beach.

Authorities had stated a team of experts were supposed to be at the wreck site by June 4, but did not arrive until the next day.

Another report states that authorities had been instructed to remove fuel and oil off the Ibis, but could not be attempted due to weather and rough seas. Thus, no fuel or oil has been removed from the dredge.

On January 31, the 13 meter long water taxi Vigilant collided with the dredger Nova Venture on the Wadden Sea near Nes, Ameland Island, Netherlands. The Vigilant was proceeding to Ameland from Holwerd with 11 passengers. The two vessels were approaching each other from opposite directions. Just before the two vessels would strike head-on, the master of the Vigilant attempted to veer away. The water taxi’s bow struck hard into the dredger causing severe damage to the hull.

Several passengers on the Vigilant were slightly injured,  but two passengers had significant injuries and had to be later taken to hospital in Leeuwarden for treatment. Both passengers recovered and were later released.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. No details reported if any injuries or damage to the Nova Venture from the collision.

The 64 meter long dredger Ohf 32 caught fire on the Rhine between Nierstein and Nackenheim, Germany. The Ohf 32 had been moored alongside two barges when the fire broke out. The dredger was engulf in dark plumes of smoke forcing a halt to traffic to a nearby highway. The crew attempted to put out the blaze for an hour when two crew had to be taken ashore due to smoke inhalation. The local fire brigade arrived on scene and fought the blaze from the shoreline. No reports of pollution released.
