London Express

The 295 meter long, 6657 dwt container ship London Express became disabled while on the Elbe River near Blankenese.   The vessel had suffered engine failure after a malfunction with the lubrication.    The crew slowed down the vessel and dropped anchor.   The London Express requested assistance and was taken under tow by three tugs.   The vessels proceeded to Finkenwerder where it was moored.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   The vessel was later taken the next day to a nearby quay for repairs.

Swiss Ruby

The 85 meter long passenger ship Swiss Ruby allided with the Augustus Bridge on the Elbe River at Dresden, Germany.  The vessel was passing under the bridge’s arches but the Ruby’s superstructure scraped against the bridge.  No reports of injuries to the crew or the 58 passengers on board.   The Swiss Ruby continued on to MeiBen.  Experts have surveyed the bridge, but no details to the extent of damage was reported.   Authorities have started an investigation into the incident.

The 90 meter long, 4071 dwt freighter Anna Lehmann became disabled on the Elbe River near Brunsbuettel, Germany.  The freighter suffered a power blackout after an engine failure.   The vessel was moored at Brunsbuettel, Germany while the crew made repairs.   The vessel continued on its journey to St. Petersburg from Bristol the next day.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
