The 90 meter long, 4071 dwt freighter Anna Lehmann became disabled on the Elbe River near Brunsbuettel, Germany.  The freighter suffered a power blackout after an engine failure.   The vessel was moored at Brunsbuettel, Germany while the crew made repairs.   The vessel continued on its journey to St. Petersburg from Bristol the next day.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Hanse Spirit

The 142 meter long, 9654 dwt container ship Hanse Spirit became disabled on the Elbe River after suffering an engine failure.  The vessel dropped anchor and requested assistance.   A tug towed the Hanse Spirit to Cuxhaven where it berthed and will undergo repairs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Fire on Abu Rdees

Fire on Abu Rdees

The 133 meter long, 12600 dwt freighter Abu Rdees suffered a fire while proceeding on the outer Elbe River.   The Abu Rdees was proceeding in ballast between Klaipeda and Bremen when a fire broke out in the crew’s accomodation section of the vessel.   The vessel sent out a distress call with the DGzRS lifeboat from Cuxhaven responding.   The crew of the Abu Rdees was able to get the fire under control.   Five of the 37 men on board were injured by smoke inhalation.   The freighter was able to moor at Neuwerk where local firefighters and emergency crews boarded the vessel.  No details on the extent of damage the fire caused on the freighter.
