Ella
The 80 meter long self-propelled barge Ella ran aground on the Weser near Nienburg, Germany. The Ella was attempting to do a maneuver when it’s bow became stuck on the embankment. Then the stern of the Ella became stuck on the opposite bank leaving the vessel perpendicular to river. No reports of injuries. Traffic was halted on the Weser while authorities attempted to free the Ella. The local fire brigade removed sand around the bow while a crane barge could turn the Ella around. The Ella was later taken to Leeseringen to be inspected. No reports of damage or pollution released.
