George Lauren

The trawler George Lauren went aground outside the harbour at Whitehaven, England.  The trawler had broken its mooring lines as heavy rain and gale force winds battered the area.  The vessel was quickly pinned against the breakwall and winds reached 65 mph and swells of 10 feet.   A joint rescue was conducted by the Coast Guard from Whitehaven with the RNLI lifeboat from Workington were able to pull the trawler free.   The only man on board the George Lauren suffered minor injuries.  No reports of pollution being released.

Intuition Disabled

Intuition Disabled

The 20 meter long crabber fishing vessel Intuition became disabled off Pendeen, England.    The vessel had a line foul its propeller in rough seas.   The vessel contacted authorities which dispatched the RNLI Sennen Cove lifeboat.   The lifeboat was able to attach a towline to the Intuition and proceeded to Newlyn.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Seasick and Disabled

Seasick and Disabled

The 68 gt tugboat Dockman became disabled off  Harwich, England in rough seas.  The vessel’s engine had failed and only a single crewman was on duty.  Four of the five crew had overcome by seasickness leaving one man at the helm for over 12 hours.  The crewman contacted Thames Coastguard for assistance.  The RNLI lifeboat from Harwich responded and gave assistance to the tugboat.  The crew were able to restart the engine and proceeded back to harbour escorted by the lifeboat.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
