The 20 meter long tug Aquarius sank in the English Channel between Nord de l’Aber Wrac’h, Britanny and Cornwall, England. The crew sent out a distress call with both English and French Coast Guards responding. A helicopter was dispatched which able to rescue two crew from a liferaft. A third crewman was reported as missing. The Aquarius was en route to Plymouth from La Coruna, Spain.

The 100 meter long, 4314 dwt lpg-tanker Coral Favia suffered an explosion near Barfleur, France. The tanker was headed to Teesport from Bilbao when there was an explosion and fire in the engine room. The crew was able to extinguish the fire after a short time. Two crewmen were injured with one having serious burns. A rescue helicopter was dispatched and evacuated the injured crew to France. The Coral Favia was able to continue under its own power at a reduced speed. Reports state the vessel suffered only minor damage to the main engine.
The 151 meter long, 10113 dwt reefer Spring Bok collided in heavy fog with the 88 meter long, 3590 dwt LPG tanker Gas Arctic. The Spring Bok struck the stern of the Gas Arctic while attempting to overtake it. Both vessels suffered damage above the waterline, but were able to proceed under their own power to Portland, England. Both vessels will be inspected. No reports of injuries to the 14 crew on the Gas Arctic or the 22 crew on the Spring Bok. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
