Kyeema Spirit

The 249 meter long, 113357 dwt tanker Kyeema Spirit went aground on Aegna Island near Tallinn, Estonia.  The tanker suffered damage including a hole in a bilge tank.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The Kyeema Spirit was headed to Tallinn in ballast.   Three tugs were dispatched to the scene and pulled the tanker free.   A pollution prevention vessel was also on scene monitoring the situation.   Reports state the port authorities warned the tanker several times before it ran aground.  Officials have launched an investigation into the incident.

Collision Off Kihnu

Collision Off Kihnu

The 60 meter long, 266 dwt icebreaker Eva-316 collided with the 100 meter long, 4400 dwt freighter Lettland in the Gulf of Riga near the island of Kihnu, Estonia.   Damage was slight on both vessels with the Lettland suffering a small 40 centimeter hole along its hull.   The Lettland continued on to Iggesund from Pärnu while the Eva-316 continued with its icebreaking duties.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Listervik Leaking and Aground

Listervik Leaking and Aground

The 4112 dwt freighter Listervik was reported aground off the Estonian island of Kihnu in the Gulf of Riga.   The Listervik suffered damage after striking the seafloor resulting in damage to the starboard section of the hull and water ingress into the ballast room.   However, the crew report the situation is under control.  The vessel with a crew of 8 and a cargo of wood pellets had left Parnu bound for Karlshamn, Sweden.  No reports of pollution being released.   The Estonian Maritime Operations Bureau is following the situation.
