On October 24, the 88 meter long, 520 dwt high speed ro-ro passenger ferry Osman Gazi 1 allided with a pier near Mudanya, Turkey.  The Osman Gazi 1 was approaching Mudanya from Istanbul with 786 passengers and 178 vehicles when it suffered engine failure near the piers.  The ferry struck near its starboard aft section resulting in hull damage. No reports of injuries.  All passengers and vehicles were unloaded. Reports state the vessel was able to proceed under its own power to Istanbul for repairs.

STENA GERMANICA

On October 22, 240 meter long, 10670 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Stena Germanica caught fire in the Kattegat near Anholt, Denmark. The fire started in a camper on the vehicle deck while  en route to Kiel from Gothenburg with 700 passengers on board. The crew assembled the passengers on deck and alerted authorities that a fire had broken out on the vessel.  A team of fire fighters were about to be flown to the Stena Germanica when the crew was able to the extinguish the blaze. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Stena Germanica continued on with its voyage and arrived in Kiel.

On October 18, the 30 meter long, 266 gt tugboat Manyplus 1 with its barge AZ Shanghai ran aground in Manila, Philippines. The tugboat and barge had been at anchorage for two days after arriving from Indonesia with 7,500 tons of coal when Typhoon Lando struck the Philippines. Strong winds from the typhoon caused the anchors to drag and both vessels were blown ashore.  The 10 crew on the Manyplus 1 were safely rescued. No reports of pollution released.

The 138 meter long, 2593 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Mary The Queen ran aground in Manila Bay, Philippines. The ferry had been at anchor and was undergoing repairs when it was blown ashore a short distance from the tugboat Manyplus 1.  No reports of injuries.
