Visby

The 196 meter long passenger ro-ro ferry Visby became disabled off Nynäshamn, Sweden.  Just after the Visby departed from the dock, the ferry suffered engine failure and went adrift. The crew was preparing to drop anchor when they were able to restart the engines.  No reports of injuries to the 1100 passengers on board, damage or pollution released.   The Visby continued on to its destination.

The 123 meter long passenger ferry Nordnorge ran aground off Skjervøy, Norway.  The Nordnorge had departed from Skjervøy when it struck bottom.  The ferry returned back to port where the vessel was inspected by divers for hull damage.  Divers found the vessel sustained damage to its starboard forepeak. The 203 passengers were uninjured and disembarked off the Nordnorge. No reports of pollution released.
