The 176 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Huckleberry Finn allided with ramp at Rostock, Germany.  The ferry was departing the dock at Rostock en route to Trelleborg when high winds caused the vessel to strike the roro ramp.  The Huckleberry Finn suffered a seven meter long gash into the hull above the waterline.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The ferry returned to the dock and was detained by authorities.  Reports state damage was over 50000 €.

The 27 meter long, 50 dwt high speed ferry Cacilhas ran aground at the entrance to Macau.  The ferry was en route to Macau from Hong Kong with 220 passengers when the vessel struck the Macao breakwater at full speed of 35 knots. Reports state 57 passengers and 1 crewman suffered minor injuries and taken to hospital.  No serious injuries reported.  The Cacilhas sustained significant damage to its hydrofoils and hull.  No pollution reported.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.  Some reports stated the weather at the time was reported fine and clear, but the incident occurred during the high tide in which the breakwater was not visible.

Finneagle

The 188 meter long, 8383 dwt passenger ro-ro ferry Finneagle ran aground in Kapellskar harbour near Stockholm,  Sweden.  The ferry was arriving from Naantali with 168 passengers when the Finneagle suffered a power blackout and drifted aground.  No reports of injuries.  The Finneagle was refloated several hours later and proceeded to dock in Kapellskar.  No reports of damage or pollution released, but an underwater survey was to be conducted.
