The 72 meter long, 541 dwt ro-ro ferry KM Sahabat sank off Jakarta, Indonesia.  The ferry was en route to Tanjung Pinang with 139 passengers and 26 crew in calm seas.  An hour into its journey the weather worsened.   Waves reached 5 meters causing the vessel to lose steerage.  The KM Sahabat capsized onto its starboard side.   The master ordered crew and passengers to don life jackets and abandon ship into the vessel’s life raft.  An SOS signal was sent out and 3 to 4 hours later several tugboats arrived on scene.  Seven people were reported missing.  Three  others were rescued and taken to hospital for injuries.

The 634 dwt ro-ro ferry Starlite Atlantic ran aground near Brgy Argao, Malay, Aklan, Philippines. The vessel was anchored off the Caticlan anchorage when high winds and large waves cause the anchor to drag.  The Starlite Atlantic continue to drift when the anchor chain parted and the vessel drifted into the shallows.   No reports of injuries to the 31 crew on board.  The captain reported he will attempt to refloat the vessel on the next high tide.  No reports of damage or pollution released.

The 60 meter long ro-ro ferry BJL I capsized while moored at the dock in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, Indonesia.  The vessel suffered water ingress on the starboard side of the vessel causing the ferry to develop a 10 degree list.  The list increased, but the 85 passengers and crew were able to evacuate to the quay before the BJL I capsized over on her portside hull.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state some 44 vehicles were on board when the BJL I capsized and some diesel fuel released into the water.  Authorities placed an oil boom around the vessel to contain the pollution.  The cause of the water ingress is under investigation.
