The 130 meter long passenger ferry Queen of Nanaimo allided with a floating dock on Mayne Island, British Columbia, Canada.  The float sustained some damage.  While pulling away from the dock,  the Queen of Nanaimo went aground.   While it was maneuvering, the ferry was pushed by heavy winds causing the vessel aground.  No injuries to the 22 crew and two passengers on board at the time.

Video of the incident

Divers inspected a portion of the ferry’s hull and discovered the starboard propeller and shaft were damaged.  A portion of the aft hull was also damaged. The Queen of Nanaimo was to be towed to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island by several tugs.  The Queen of Nanaimo will be drydocked to make the necessary of reports.  BC Ferries announced scheduled sailings between Tsawwassen and Southern Gulf Islands are cancelled as another vessel is not available to replace the Queen of Nanaimo.

The 57 meter long, 261 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Alsten allided with a fender at the pier at Søvik, Norway.  The ferry was on its regular service when it struck the fender wall.   One passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital and released a short time later.  The Alsten was pulled out of service.  Authorities state the crew and vessel was in order and that the incident was accidental.

SC_ATLANTIC

The 140 meter long, 2059 dwt ro-ro passenger vessel Ocean Atlantic broke from her moorings at Bremerhaven, Germany by strong wind gusts.  A tug was able to bring the Ocean Atlantic back to the pier.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

PETER_PAN

The 190 meter long, 6555 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry ferry Peter Pan allided with the 49 meter long, 555 dwt small coastal freighter Jopi while moored at Trelleborg, Sweden.  The Peter Pan had broke from her moorings and strong wind gusts pushed the vessel’s aft section into the stern of the Jopi which was moored on the opposite quay.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Stena Alegra

The 7360 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Stena Alegra went aground in the Baltic Sea near Karlskrona, Sweden.  The Stena Alegra was proceeding in just ballast as no passengers or cargo was on board.   Reports state the vessel was blown aground by the strong winds.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

ARCO_AXE

The 98 meter long, 5438 dwt dredger Arco Axe went aground on the Thames near Shoeburyness, England.  The Arco Axe was later refloated by the aid of several tugs and proceeded to Medway.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution.
