The 151 meter long, 13200 dwt container ship Phoenix J ran aground in the Gulf of Bothnia near Rauma, Finland.  The Phoenix J suffered hull damage with water ingress into ballast tanks and cargo holds.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   Divers was only able to inspect part of the hull as the vessel remains firmly aground on the rocky bottom.  The MRCC has a vessel standing by in case the crew need to evacuate the vessel.   Salvagers plan to pump out water before attempting to refloat the vessel    The boxship had left Rauma loaded with containers bound for Gävle, Sweden before going aground in 5 meters of water.

Bianca Rambow

Bianca Rambow

The 134 meter long, 11286 dwt container ship Bianca Rambow suffered an explosion while moored at Hamina, Finland.  The explosion occurred in the engine room damaging machinery and equipment.   No one was injured and no pollution was released.   The damage was reported to have damaged the engine and could not be repaired.   The vessel is waiting to be towed to a shipyard.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Ferry Ashore

Ferry Ashore

The 36 meter long ferry Spoven went ashore at Asterholma, Åland.  The ferry had broken free from its moorings during a storm and pushed ashore by the high winds.   The ferry was later pulled free and surveyed for damage.   There were no crew on board at the time of the incident.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
