Kamilla

Kamilla

As Typhoon Enteng struck Manila Bay on September 2, the 25 meter long training vessel Kamilla (MMSI: 548372500) caught fire.  The Kamilla was at anchor in the Navotas anchorage when it was struck by the 64 meter long cargo vessel LCT GT Express.  The strong waves caused by the typhoon cause the LCT GT Express to break free of its anchor. The LCT GT Express drifted into the Kamilla damaging the bridge and starting a fire.

The Philippine Coast Guard attempted to rescue the crew on the Kamilla, but were unable to reach the vessel because of weather conditions and strong currents. The 18 crew on the Kamilla were forced to abandoned ship. All the crew was later recovered with one crewman sent to hospital for injuries. No details reported on the damage or condition of the LCT GT Express.
