The 21 meter long fishing vessel Atlantic Charger sank in the North Atlantic off Resolution Island, Nunavut, Canada. The trawler was fishing turbot when the found the vessel had suffered a leak.  The water ingress could not be controlled by the vessel pumps.  The crew requested assistance.  Authorities dispatched an aircraft and after a few hours flying, the aircraft found the Atlantic Charger sinking by the stern. The nine crew on the Atlantic Charger had donned survival suits and abandoned ship into the vessel’s life raft.  The crew spent 10 hours in the raft until they were safely rescued by the fishing vessel Katsheshuk from Greenland. No reports of injuries. The cause of the sinking was not reported.

The 10 meter long fishing vessel Renzo – SCH3 became disabled off Scheveningen, Netherlands. The Renzo had its propeller fouled by a net and went adrift.  The vessel drifted towards shore and ran up on the breakwater resulting in hull damage.  The fishing vessel sustained water ingress in the engine room.  The two crew requested assistance with the KNRM lifeboat from Scheveningen responding.  The 2 crew were able to safely abandon ship, but the fishing vessel beached along the shoreline. A crane was dispatched later the same day and lifted the fishing vessel off the beach. No reports of injuries.

The 42 meter long, 515 gt fishing vessel Soley Sigurjons caught fire while fishing near Akureyri, Iceland. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room while fishing off northern Iceland. The crew sealed the engine room and activated the fire suppression system.  The fire was extinguished, but the engine room was badly damaged.  Disabled, the Soley Sigurjons required assistance with a MRCC helicopter dispatched to the scene. A nearby fishing vessel came to her aid to help hoist her nets.  The Soley Sigurjons was taken under tow back to Akureyi. No reports of injuries.
