The 29 meter long, 130 dwt fishing vessel Frosti caught fire off Straumnes, Iceland. The fire started in the trawler’s engine room and quickly contained by the crew.  However, dense smoke had spread through out the Frosti except the bridge.  The vessel sent out a distress call with two Iceland Coast Guard helicopters and patrol boats to the scene.  One helicopter airlifted one crew person off the Frosti who required treatment for smoke inhalation.  The other helicopter arrived and lowered five firefighters to the Frosti.  The patrol boat Tyr arrived and took the Frosit under tow back to Hafnarfjordur.  No reports of pollution released.

On September 28. the 62 meter long fishing vessel Krossfjord became disabled off Kristiansund, Norway. The trawler had suffered engine failure and was unable to restore power.  The Krossfjord requested assistance and the patrol boat Sortland responding. The Sortland took the Krossfjord under tow back to Kristiansund. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 27 meter long, 275 dwt fishing vessel Polaris ran aground in Kola Bay in the Barents Sea near Murmansk, Russia. The Polaris had suffered a power black out and was unable to free itself.  The trawler requested assistance with a naval tug responding.  The tug was able to pull the Polaris free and proceeded to tow the fishing vessel back to Murmansk.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.
