On April 4, the 55 foot fishing vessel Baccalieu Endeavour capsized in Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada. The Baccalieu Endeavour had been tied up in the harbour when a strong storms struck the northeast coast of Newfoundland. During the storm the fishing vessel keeled over and capsized onto its port side.

The vessel’s owner attempted to upright the Baccalieu Endeavour with heavy equipment, but the Baccalieu Endeavour remained capsized.  Divers from St. Johns were requested and  will assist in bringing the vessel back to an upright position.  No reports of injuries.

The 36 meter fishing vessel Scan Viking was disabled 30 miles off the coast of Ibiza, Spain. While en route to Alicante from Palma, the live fish carrier suffered a power blackout when its main engine failed.  Adrift in bad weather, the Scan Viking contacted authorities in Palma for assistance.

Authorities dispatched the rescue boat Guardamar Caliope which arrived on scene a few hours later.  The rescue boat was able to pass a towline over to the Scan Viking and headed towards Ibiza. After eight hours of a difficult tow in adverse weather, the Guardamar Caliope brought the Scan Viking back into port of Ibiza. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 62 meter long fishing vessel Kapitan Gromtsev became disabled off Malangsgrunnen, Norway. The trawler had suffered engine failure and went adrift. Authorities dispatched the patrol boat Harstad to the scene.

The Harstad took the Kapitan Gromtsev under tow and headed towards Tromsø. Later, a tug from Tromsø took over the tow and proceeded to berth at Tromsø. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
