On January 18, the 16 meter long fishing vessel Ptit Djimy suffered water ingress while berthed at a quay in Port-en-Bassin, France. The local authorities were alerted as the vessel began to sit lower in the water. The local fire brigade responded to the scene with several dewatering pumps.  After a few hours, the pumps were able to dewater the Ptit Djimy.  No injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the bilge pump was the source of the water ingress.

On January 6, the 15 meter long, 10 gt fishing boat Lucky LH482700 caught fire in the English Channel off Ouistreham, France. The fire quickly spread through the vessel’s superstructure forcing the three crew members into a life raft. The crew was rescued by fishing boat Bambino who were later transferred to a French Coast Guard vessel.  One crew member sustained injuries and taken for medical treatment in Le Havre. SNSM lifeboats from Ouistreham, Calais and Gravelines along with other vessels arrived on scene, but found the Lucky had already burned to the waters edge.  The Lucky sank a few hours later.  No reports to the cause of the fire.

The 22 meter long fishing vessel Argentario ran ashore onto the beach in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, France.  The 5 crew on board alerted authorities the vessel had run aground.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  Several attempts to refloat the Argentario failed even with the assistance of a tug.  Reports state the vessel was to be refloated on a favorable high tide the following day.
