The 14 meter long fishing vessel Sans Spe II ran aground of Point Ferret, France.  The Sans Spe II was fishing for cuttlefish and sole when  its propeller was fouled by a wooden pontoon.  The fishing vessel was disabled and drifted until it washed ashore onto the beach.  No injuries to the 4 crew on board.  The vessel remained high and dry until the following rising tide.  Assisted by another fishing vessel, the Sans Spe II was refloated and towed  to Arachon.  No reports of pollution released.

The 140 meter long, 12325 dwt container ship Safmarine Linyati went aground on the Seine River near Caudebec-en-Caux, France.  The vessel was en route to Rouen from Antwerp when grounded at the entrance of the  river channel.  Tugs attempted to refloat the Safmarine Linyati but were unable due to the falling tide.  Plans were to refloat the vessel on the following high tide.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
