Bad Luck Frank

The 90 meter long, 3500 dwt freighter Frank W went aground in the Mariager Fjord, Denmark.  The Frank W was departing Mariager for a voyage to Sweden with 3600 tons of salt when the vessel got pulled by the current and went aground.  Authorities have dispatched inspectors to survey for damage while the anti-pollution vessel Mette Miljo has anchored nearby.  Reports state there is no signs of pollution at the scene, but salvage will not begin until the survey is completed.   No reports of injuries.   The Frank W has suffered three incidents in 2011.

Collision off Skagen

The 3500 dwt freighter Frank W collided with the fishing vessel Lilly – E2 off Skagen, Denmark.  The Lilly’s crew of 2 contacted the rescue center stating the vessel was taking on water.  The center deployed two vessels with pumps.   The rough seas in the area slowed the rescue vessels.   Luckily, the pilot boat from Skagen happen to be in the area.   The pilot boat reached the Lilly and safely evacuated the Lilly crew.   The Lilly sank soon after.  The Frank W bound for Halmstad from Ijmuiden continued on to Halmsted to be inspected.   The Denmark Maritime Authority is investigating the incident.  No reports of injuries.   Details on pollution from the sunken Lilly has not been released.
