Fire on the Vardborg

The 38 meter long fishing vessel Vardborg suffered a fire in the engine room while off Fraserburgh, Scotland.  The crew brought the fire under control and activated the onboard fire fighting system attempting to put out the fire.   The master of the Vardborg contacted Aberdeen Coastguard for assistance.   The Coastguard sent out a helicopter and two RNLI lifeboats to the scene.   The lifeboats took the vessel under tow and headed back to Peterhead where local fire crews were waiting.   The Coastguard helicopter was able to determine that the fire had gone out using themeral imaging.   Due to the large amount of fuel on board, the Vardborg was berthed at an isolated spot.   All 14 crew on the Vardborg were taken to the local fisherman mission.   No reports of injuries.
