Helgoland Collision
The excursion passenger vessels Helgoland and Funny Girl collided off Helgoland, Germany. The 74 meter long, 418 ton Helgoland struck the 68 meter long, 165 ton Funny Girl at the anchorage due to the severe weather. Both vessels suffered only slight damage. After the collision, the Funny Girl drifted and subsequently went aground on a sand bank off the beach near Helgoland dune. Passengers on board the Funny Girl were transferred to the passenger ship Lady Von Buesum by the use of small tenders. The passengers were all safely arrived at Buesum. The passenger ship Helgoland continued on to Wilhelmshaven. No reports of injuries. The water police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
