Ursel
The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Ursel went aground on the Main River near the lock at Goßmannsdorf, Germany. The Ursel was headed downriver when it lost control and went perpendicular to the river. The vessel’s bow became stuck on shore while its stern ran up onto the dam blocking the entrance to the lock. The Ursel suffered water ingress from a leak in the hull and water washing over the deck into the vessel’s cabin. No reports of injuries. The local fire brigade was called out and was able to help dewater the vessel. The Ursel was able to be refloated and was moored nearby. The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.
