On February 20, the 75 meter long general cargo vessel Kerem S ran aground in the Aegean Sea on the island of Levitha, Greece.  The Kerem S was en route to Aliaga from Heraklion in ballast when it had become disabled between Kos and Paros. The crew requested to be evacuated as the vessel drifted towards the rocky coastline.  A helicopter was dispatched from Greek authorities and were able to hoist all 6 crew to safety.  No reports of injuries.  The Kerem S continued to drift until it went ashore on the northeastern tip of Levitha.  The vessel sustained hull damage and water ingress causing the cargo vessel to list to starboard and sink by the stern.

The 164 meter long bulk carrier Good Faith ran aground in the Aegean Sea along the coast of Andros Island, Greece. The bulk carrier had departed from Eleusis in ballast bound for the Odessa, Ukraine.  During the night, the Good Faith had encountered stormy weather with gale strength winds. The bulk carrier was blown on to the rocky shoreline.  The vessel’s hull was punctured and suffered water ingress. The master of the Good Faith requested assistance and evacuation of the 22 crew on board.  The Greek Coast Guard along with Air Force helicopters responded to the scene. The helicopters were able to hoist all 22 crew off the vessel safely. Authorities dispatched anti-pollution vessel to the scene along with three tugs.  Reports state a Lloyds Open Form has been signed. No reports of injuries.

The 214 meter long passenger ro-ro ferry Europalink ran aground off the islet Peristeres near Corfu, Greece. The passenger ship ran onto the rocks and sustained hull damaged. The vessel turned around and returned to Kerkyra aided by two tugs. In port, divers inspected the hull and found the vessel had suffered several cracks along its starboard hull.  No reports of injuries to the 692 passengers and 70 crew on board.  Passengers disembarked and were given other travel arrangements. The Europalink was detained by authorities until repairs could be completed.
