GULER

The 79 meter long, 2421 dwt freighter Guler went aground off the Island of Corfu, Greece.  The Guler was headed to Marghera, Italy from Thessaloniki with a cargo of ore when it grounded.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Guler suffered some hull damage and had water ingress.   The freighter was able to refloat itself by its own means and proceeded to anchor off Corfu awaiting inspection.

The 107 meter long, 4935 dwt tanker Aegean Rose allied with a pier at the petroleum terminal at Athens, Greece.   The Aegean Rose suffered suffered damage to its stern.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.   Authorities was detained for further inspection.  No further details reported.

The 141 meter long, 2651 dwt passenger ship Nissos Mykonos suffered a fire in the Aegean Sea near Karlovassi, Greece.   The Nissos Mykonos had left Piraeus with 174 passengers and 74 crew bound for Samos with other stops at several islands.  The fire started in the vessel’s smokestack releasing thick black smoke.  The crew was able to extinguish the blaze.   Five passengers were evacuated from the vessel after suffering from smoke inhalation.  The remaining passengers were transferred to another ferry.  No details reported to the extent of damage to the vessel.
