Alios

The 171 meter long, 11400 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Alios ran aground in the Aegean Sea near Kea Island, Greece. The Alios was headed to Limassol, Cyprus when it went hard aground due to human error. The Alios was unable to refloat itself and requested  assistance.  A tug was dispatched to aid in refloating efforts.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On January 9, the 74 meter long cargo vessel Olga M allided with the Halkida Evripus Bridge at Evia, Greece. The Olga M struck the bridge on the port side of the bow, but neither the bridge or vessel sustained significant damage. The Olga M was able to proceed to a nearby quay where it berthed. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Vitsentzos Kornaros

The 128 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Vitsentzos Kornaros allided with a pier at Kissamos, Greece. The Vitsentzos Kornaros had allided with the pier while departing for Piraeus with 16 passengers on board. The ferry sustained hull damage above the waterline. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Vitsentzos Kornaros remained in port and cancelled its voyage as the ferry required repairs.
