Heng Yu 9
The 117 meter long, tanker Heng Yu 9 ran aground in Quanzhou Bay, China. The Heng Yu 9 had departed from Ningbo on September 14 with 6000 tons of naphtha. As the tanker was attempting to shelter from Typhoon Meranti, it was blown aground. The tanker sustained damage to its cabin, anchor, and its steering. No reports of injuries to the 19 crew on board. Reports states the Heng Yu 9 had been at risk of capsizing, but the crew was able to keep the tanker upright by the time authorities came to their aid. The Heng Yu 9 was towed to the Jinjiang Quanzhou Oil terminal on September 16 where it unloaded its cargo of naphtha. No reports of pollution released.
