Grey Lady IV
On the late afternoon of January 18, the 46 meter long catamaran passenger ferry Grey Lady IV (MMSI: 367720690) caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean near Hyannis, Massachusetts. The fire broke out in the upper deck of the upper deck from an overheated HVAC motor. The crew was able to rapidly respond and extinguish the blaze before the Grey Lady IV reached the dock in Hyannis. All passengers safely disembarked and there were no reports of injuries. The incident is under investigation.
The incident is the second fire onboard the ferry in just over a month. On December 4, 2025, the Grey Lady IV suffered a fire ignited in one of the HVAC motors. Again, the crew was able to extinguish the blaze and all passengers were able to evacuate the vessel without any injuries.
