The 87 meter long, 3269 dwt freighter Wilson Dover allided with the lock wall and gate on the Ijmuiden at Papenburg, Germany.   The freighter was a bit impatient and proceeded to exit the lock before the lock gates had opened.   The vessel attempted to slow down but hit the lock wall before hitting the lock gate.   The vessel suffered dents in the bow along with scrapes against the hull.   The lock gate was slightly bent from the incident.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Locked In

Locked In

The 123 meter long, 8280 dwt chemical tanker Med Arctic allided with the gate in the middle lock of the North Sea Lock complex at Ijmuiden, Netherlands.  The lock suffered significant damage requiring the inner gate to be replaced and the lock to be closed for a week.  Authorities have detained the Med Arctic which remains inside the middle lock.  Traffic through the complex has been redirected to another lock.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Eems Star Disabled

Eems Star Disabled

The 2,600 dwt freighter Eems Star had an engine break down while entering the piers at Ijmuiden, Netherlands.  The vessel was forced to dropped anchor and wait until two tugs were able to take coaster freighter under tow.   The Eems Star was towed to the outer quay at Hoogoven harbour for repairs.
