The 36 meter long fishing vessel Nuevo Ria Aldan went aground near Ardnakinna Lighthouse, Berrehaven, Ireland.  The vessel had run onto the rocks and requested assistance from the RNLI.   The RNLI dispatched a lifeboat to the scene and pulled the 11 crew of the Nuevo Ria Aldan ashore.  The fishing vessel was refloated on the next high tide and taken to Castletownbere.   Authorities inspected the area for any pollution released and damage to the Nuevo Ria Aldan.

Rosslare Harbour Allision

Rosslare Harbour Allision

The 140 meter long, 3189 dwt ro-ro ferry Stena Europe struck the 166 meter long, 4606 dwt ferry Oscar Wilde at Rosslare Harbour, Ireland.  The Stena Europe had departed from Fishguard to Rosslare and was maneuvering to berth at Rosslare when strong winds caused the ferry to allide with the berthed Oscar Wilde.  No reports of injuries to the 454 passengers or 71 crew on board at the time. Both vessels sustained minimal damage.  The Stena Europe cancelled its scheduled sailing while the vessel is inspected for damage.

Snowdonia

Snowdonia

The fishing vessel Snowdonia sank near Kikeel Harbour, Ireland.  The Snowdonia had sent out a distress call to the RNLI before the two crew abandoned ship before  going into the water.  Luckily, another fishing vessel was nearby and pulled the men from the cold water.  The RNLIL lifeboat from Kikeeland and a Coast Guard helicopter were dispatched to the scene.  The lifeboat reached the two men first providing aid to the men until the helicopter arrived.  The men were airlifted and taken to hospital for treatment.
