The 105 meter long, 6476 dwt cargo vessel Majed & Randy became disabled and struck a villa along the shoreline of the Bosphorus Strait.  The Majed & Randy had suffered a rudder malfunction and struck the second floor of the villa.  No reports of injuries.  Authorities dispatched a tugboat and pilot to assist the disabled Majed & Randy.  Reports state traffic was halted during the incident.  No reports of pollution released. The Majed & Randy was later towed to Büyükdere.  The villa was built in 1860 and well known in Istanbul.

The 275 meter long, 159,196 dwt suezmax tanker SCF Khibiny ran aground on the Marmara Sea near Istanbul, Turkey. The fully loaded with 150,000 tonnes of crude oil tanker was warned by authorities that it was headed into shallow water before it ran aground. Multiple rescue vessels along with seven tugs boats were dispatched to the scene. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 183 meter long, 37384 dwt tanker King Edward became disabled off Sanyer Bebek, Turkey. The King Edward had departed from Istanbul bound for Kavkaz when it suffered rudder failure. The tanker went adrift and was headed toward the shoreline.  Tugs were dispatched and monitored the King Edward while the crew resolved the problem.  An hour later the rudder was fixed and the King Edward proceeded on its way. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
