The 71 meter long, 400 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Isola Di Capri allided with the 70 meter long, 572 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Driade in Naples, Italy. The Isola Di Capri had dropped its mooring lines as it was ready to depart from Naples bound for Ischia when it was blasted by strong winds.  The winds pushed the Isola Di Capri until it struck against the foreship of the Driade. Both vessels sustained minor damage and were detained from leaving port until weather conditions had improved. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On April 20, the 100 meter long, 5183 dwt cargo vessel Amira Eman ran aground off Porto Nogaro, Italy. The Amira Eman had departed the port with 4500 tons of cargo for Egypt when it stranded outside the navigation channel. A tug was requested and was able to assist in refloating the Amira Eman a short time later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Amira Eman was allowed to proceed on its voyage.

On January  10, the  367 meter long, 127015 dwt container ship Gustav Maersk ran aground in the Messina Strait near Torre Cavallo, Italy. The Gustav Maersk en route to Gioia Tauro from Rijeka entered the Messia Strait.  While it maneuvered to bring on a pilot, the boxship ran aground just off the shoreline.

The vessel requested assistance with two tugs responding.  The tugs were able to refloat the Gustav Maersk and the vessels proceeded to Gioia Tauro.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
