Kapitan Bolsunovskiy
The 93 meter long, 1753 dwt trawler Kapitan Bolsunovskiy sank in the Bering Sea near Dezhnev Point, Chukchi Peninsula, Russia. The trawler had struck some ice which had holed the vessel’s hull. The Kapitan Bolsunovskiy suffered uncontrolled water ingress in the cargo hold quickly flooding the vessel. The crew requested assistance with the fishing vessel Dersu Uzala responding. The 90 crew on board the Kapitan Bolsunovskiy were safely rescued before the Kapitan Bolsunovskiy went to the bottom. No reports of injuries and no details to the amount of pollution released. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
