On December 25, the 110 meter long, 5444 dwt cargo vessel Enif (IMO: 8900684) became disabled in the Çanakkale Strait near Gocuk Burnu, Turkey. The Enif was headed to Yalova from İskenderun when it suffered machine failure and going adrift. The cargo vessel contacted authorities who dispatched tugs to assist. The Enif was taken under tow through the straits to an anchorage in the Sea of Marmara.  Reports state the Enif was able to proceed the following day to Yalova.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On December 20, the 225 meter long, 76,623 dwt bulk carrier Alfaisaliah (IMO: 9231274) ran aground in the Sea of Marmara in the Ahırkapı Anchorage Zone, Turkey. The Alfaisaliah was bound from Istanbul to Egypt when it grounded. Turkish authorities dispatched the 17 meter long search and rescue vessel KEGM-3 (MMSI: 271010031) along with the  38.5 meter long tugboat Kurtarma 9 (IMO: 9598581) and tugboat Kurtarma 21 (IMO: 1066946) to assist. Reports state a diver team was also dispatched to the scene.

 

No reports of injuries or pollution released. No further details reported.

On December 8, the 132 meter long, 7993 dwt container ship Orita (IMO: 9318931) became disabled in the Çanakkale Strait near Gelibolu, Turkey.  The Orita had departed from Aliağa bound for Kocaeli when it suffered machine failure and went adrift. The vessel alerted authorities who dispatched the tugboat Kurtarma-20 (IMO: 9995117) and Kurtarma-18 (IMO: 9974890) to assist.  The Kurtarma-20 took the Orita under tow while the Kurtarma-18 escorted the vessels to the Şevketiye Anchorage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
